FLOWER PRESERVATION

Flower preserving is an excellent way to keep the flowers from your special day forever.

The process of preserving fresh flowers in resin takes a lot of time and is quite a technical process, here’s a brief explaination of the steps involved:

  • I start by taking the fresh flowers and cutting them down ready to be dried.
  • Then I gently place the flowers in silica sand to dry.
  • I regularly check the flowers to check where in the drying process they are (some flowers take longer than others and if flowers are left in for too long, they start to crumble).
  • When the flowers are completely dry, they are taken out of the silica sand and carefully brushed to make sure no sand remains in the flowers.
  • I then arrange a design for the flowers in resin before starting the resin process.
  • Then I gradually add thin layers of resin to the mould, ensuring the flowers are positioned perfectly and there are no air bubbles in the resin.

This process from start to finish takes at least 20 hours (often lots more) to get the final piece as close to perfect as possible.

I use a high quality of epoxy resin for the final piece to ensure the best results.
